PLEASE NOTE:
This is only a guideline- a diet that is high in protein and low in carbs is optimum. Please refer to our Patient Guidelines/ Patient handbook available online at www.ctsurgical.com under surgical weight loss program, patient resources for a more detailed description of the diet after Lap Band surgery.
Rules for a Healthy Life after Gastric Bypass
- Exercise every day (one hour, aerobic / cardio - walking is best)
- Take an adult-strength chewable multivitamin with iron every day
- Take 1200 mg of a chewable calcium citrate supplement (ie: Citracel chew)
- Drink 64 ounces of SUGAR-FREE and CALORIE-FREE liquid daily
- Eat protein-rich foods first and at every meal
- Eat slowly, chew your food well, and avoid distractions while eating
- Contact our office immediately at (860)246-2071 for any problems related
to your bypass
- Return for all of your long-term follow-up visits
- See your primary-care physician regularly
- DO NOT EVER AGAIN have any sugar sweetened food or beverage
- DO NOT snack or graze
- Avoid liquid calories (shakes, ice cream, smoothies, most protein drinks)
- DO NOT take aspirin, NSAID's (Motrin, Aleve, Bextra, Celebrex, etc.), or other aspirin / NSAID - containing medications
- DO NOT SMOKE
- DO NOT take large pills or capsules
- Use Omega-3 supplements, like Coromega chew, for hair loss and hair thinning
- Let our office know if you move so we can continue to provide you with the best care possible
