The Sterotactic Biopsy Procedure Patient Information

Your Doctor would like you to go to Hartford Hospital and have a stereotactic breast biopsy. The following information is provided to answer your questions regarding this procedure. Please feel free to call us at (860) 246-2071 if you have additional questions.

Hartford Hospital Radiology will call you in 2 to 3 days after your appointment at our office. Your mammogram will be sent to Hartford Hospital for this procedure.

Report to Room 128/Patient Accounts at Hartford Hospital (see attached map) to register for this test. A family member may be with you during the registration process, but must wait in the waiting room while you are having your breast biopsy. Please dress comfortably and you may bring music of your choice (CD or cassette tape) to listen to during the procedure. The procedure usually lasts 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.

You must not use aspirin, blood thinners or arthritis medication for seven (7) days prior to this procedure. This is to help decrease bleeding. You may restart these medications after your breast biopsy.
